GAMING VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED!

HI ALL,

AS A PART OF A MAJOR RESEARCH PROJECT WE ARE CONDUCTING A 'VIRTUAL FIELD TRIAL' IN THE LEVEL 2 COMPUTER LABS ON TUESDAY THE 23RD OF AUGUST, 7PM.

IF YOU'D LIKE TO PARTICIPATE (AND ARE OVER 18) YOU'LL BE ASKED TO TAKE PART IN A SERIES OF ACTIVITIES WITHIN A 'CRYSIS WARS' LEVEL THAT REPRESENTS A MAJOR URBAN SPACE IN SYDNEY.

THE TASKS WILL BE RELATED TO EMERGENCY TYPE SCENARIOS. WE EXPECT IT SHOULD ALL BE DONE IN ABOUT AN HOUR OR SO.

WE NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET AND HOPEFULLY YOU'LL FIND IT EXCITING AND A BIT OF FUN ... AS WELL AS SUPPORTING CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH.

CLEAN USER INTERFACE IN SANDBOX2

HI ALL,

FOR CAPTURING 'CLEAN' ANIMATIONS:
1. WHEN YOU ARE IN GAME (CTRL+G) HIT THE TILDE BUTTON (UPPER LEFT OF
YOUR KEYBOARD, JUST UNDER ESCAPE).
2. IN THE CONSOLE WINDOW THAT OPENS TYPE IN "CON_RESTRICTED
0" (WITHOUT THE QUOTATION MARKS). IF YOU TYPED THIS IN EARLIER, YOU
WON'T HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN.
3. TYPE "CL_HUD 0" (NO QUOTE MARKS), THIS WILL REMOVE THE HUD ELEMENTS
SO YOU'LL GET CLEAN VIDEO CAPTURES.

PLAYUP MATERIAL FIX TUTORIAL

HI ALL,

YOU MAY HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN YOU EXPORT THE MODEL FROM PLAYUP INTO YOUR CRYSIS WARS MOD FOLDER THE MATERIAL DIDN'T SHOW UP PROPERLY ... THIS IS BECAUSE THE DDS TEXTURE FILE ISN'T BEING CREATED AUTOMATICALLY (AS IT DOES WHEN YOU EXPORT TO YOUR NORMAL OBJECTS FOLDER). THE TUTORIAL BELOW SHOWS YOU HOW TO FIX THIS.

ESENTIALLY, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS MANUALLY CREATE A DDS TEXTURE FILE IN PHOTOSHOP THAT HAS THE SAME NAME AS THE TIF TEXTURE THAT HAS BEEN CREATED WHEN YOU EXPORTED THE MODEL. SAVE THE NEW DDS IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE TIF FILE AND PRESS RELOAD ON THE MODEL WITH THE MISSING TEXTURE.
